Riley the Red Fox Pattern

Well we haven't made any blog posts in quite some time, and since our last post, we've released both our 4th of July and Halloween cats! But what we are also very excited to announce is the release of our newest pattern, Riley the Red Fox! This pattern has taken a very long time, because it kept getting pushed back as we worked on other things. In fact I first got the idea for this fox well over a year ago!

And so with the release of this pattern, we are hosting another giveaway!! This time the rules are a little different... To enter the giveaway, "like" our Facebook page, http://www.facebook.com/pages/Squishy-Cute-Designs/207494659320425 and comment on the post about Riley, saying that you'd like to be entered. New Pattern: Liberty the 4th of July Dog

We finally have a new pattern out: Liberty the 4th of July Dog! This patriotic puppy turned out pretty cute in our opinion! Hopefully you all think so too :) And of course this means we are now working on his friend, the 4th of July Cat. We've already got the pattern for the kitty in mind, so hopefully production on her will go smoothly and quickly. We'd like to have the cat done very soon. 

We'd also like to mention that there have been a few exciting additions to our store. We've decided to combine our other Etsy store (Copper Kiwi Designs) with Squishy-Cute Designs. This means we've added our wedding coloring books to our store, and added several new options for these wedding coloring books. We've also added our giraffe fingerprint guestbook/poster, and added a new option: a ladybug version. This ladybug version was as per request from one of our customers, and we think it was a great idea! So in case you have any birthday parties or baby showers coming up, you may want to keep these ideas in mind. They are a fun way to record everyone who attended.

And still on the back burner are some of the other pattern projects we've mentioned, like two different red fox patterns, plus endless other ideas we are excited to start on. But next up keep an eye out for our 4th of July Cat!

New Pattern: Flopsy the Rustic Bunny

We are very excited to announce the release of a new pattern: Flopsy the Rustic Bunny! Flopsy is going to be the first in a collection called "Out of the Attic". We came up with this idea just a few days ago, and couldn't stop working on it until we had the first pattern complete. We think that this bunny would be a cute addition to an Easter basket, or just made as a fun project for any time of year. It's definitely a little different in it's style than our other patterns, but we think that this could be a fun series. What do you think?

And here is another picture of Flopsy looking ready for Easter!

And I've already designed and cut out a fox to go in this series. This is of course a different fox than the one I've been planning for our Woodland collection. I have not given up on that one either!! And of course we have several other projects in the works right now too! So check back in soon, and we may have more new patterns to share. Real Life "Rita the Raccoon"

We had a bit of snow last night, which is a little weird since it's March. But it was fun anyway! So we had the slider door curtain open to watch it pile up, and along comes a real life "Rita" the raccoon! We have been seeing some opossums and a few raccoons off in our backyard at night,  but hadn't seen any raccoons hang out this close around our door before. He was searching around for some bread that we had thrown out for the birds earlier, that had gotten covered up by the snow. He was very very cautious, and we both kept peeking around the corner at each other! I was able to get a few pictures of him...

This first one was one of the best. He's posing next to the tiny snowman my husband had made earlier :)

He came pretty close to the door a few times, but only after I held very still!

So anyway, I suppose raccoons aren't that uncommon, but it was pretty fun seeing one so close up, and so shortly after releasing Rita the Raccoon! The only one who didn't enjoy the raccoon sighting was our kitty Pixie! She made it clear she was not a fan, but luckily she was inside with us.

And speaking of our dear Pixie, I uploaded a picture I had taken a little while back around St. Patrick's Day. I thought Pixie should pose with Shamrock! She didn't seem too impressed :P

She's a pretty laid back kitty, but then again she is about 12 years old! We got her when I started 6th grade, and she has been my sweet little baby ever since! She's a fun friend to share our work space/sewing area with.  

Well anyway, that is all the excitement for now! We are still forming our ideas for the 4th of July cat and dog, and I'm working on a red fox a pattern, while my mom has some cute ideas of her own she's been working on.

New Pattern: Jelly Bean the Easter Cat

After a minor set back yesterday (my computer decided to erase a few hours of progress), we are happy to announce that the "Jelly Bean the Easter Cat" pattern is completed and listed in our store! So now Daffodil has an Easter Egg adorned friend! Have a look...

We hope you all like Jelly Bean, and hopefully the Easter set has been a satisfactory sequel to our St. Patrick's Day set. So of course the next set to be released will be the 4th of July Cat and Dog. We have a few ideas worked out, and a general look for both, but this set may be a little more of a challenge to get just the right inspiration. But I'm sure we will get something figured out!

We are thinking we will call them Old Glory and Firecracker. What do you think?

We will post updates as we get further on them. In the mean time, I also plan on making some progress on our red fox pattern. But I will update on that a little more later.

Rita the Raccoon Pattern Giveaway!

Hey everyone! We have just finished up a pattern that we had set aside for quite some time now. Does anyone remember Rita the Raccoon? We had originally meant to complete and release this pattern back in November, but one thing led to another, and poor Rita got put on the back shelf. But we have finally gotten back to her, and have finished up her pattern!

New Pattern: Daffodil The Easter Dog

Daffodil the Easter Dog has arrived! We just finished him up last night, and now the pattern to make him is available in our shop. He features a cute bunny surrounded by spring flowers. He definitely makes it look like Spring has arrived! So we hope you'll check him out and let us know what you think!

And so now we move on to his soon-to-be friend, Jelly Bean the Easter Cat! We have the basic design and look already figured out for Jelly Bean, and we really hope that the construction will go a little smoother than it did for Daffodil. If you happened to read our previous post, you'll know that we had a little trouble figuring our the best way to make perfect daffodils to adorn Daffodil! But now that we have figured out the best method for that (in our experience anyway) we can proceed with Jelly Bean, and hopefully finish her quickly.


So now I'm off to start cutting out the pieces for Jelly Bean. We hope you like our Easter Dog, and look forward to the Easter Cat!

Easter Dog Update:


Just a quick update on the progress of our Easter Dog... We are very close to having him completed and releasing the pattern. We've had quite a few hang ups in the designing process, and have redone several parts, but my mom and I both think we finally have just the right look down! So while it may be a little longer to the completion than we had hoped, we at least are very satisfied with the final product!


So keep an eye out for Daffodil the Easter Dog, as he should be completed soon :)

Shamrock the St. Patrick's Day Cat!

We've completed the first in our holiday cat series, and the partner to Lucky: Meet Shamrock the St. Patrick's Day Cat! We are really excited to have our first set of cat and dog completed. These are both the first in a series of cats and dogs for each holiday.

We are going to continue working on the holiday series for the cat and dog next. So next up is going to be Easter! We will first work on Daffodil the Easter Dog and then Jelly Bean the Easter Cat. We're already started on the Dog, so he should be ready within a week or two! 

So until I post again, we'll be hard at work on Daffodil!

Lucky the St. Patrick's Day Dog

Well, Rita the Raccoon didn't come quite as soon as we would have liked. Our last post was in November, so obviously we've been a little behind. But, over the holidays we've been designing and creating a bunch of new ideas and patterns! Greta (my mom) designed two new collections of patterns: The Holiday Dog Collection and the Holiday Cat Collection. And we are both so excited to announce the release of the first pattern in the dog series....

Lucky the St. Patrick's Day Dog

We think he is a cutie, and hope you do too! The pattern to make lucky can be found here in our shop. So next up is Shamrock the St. Patrick's Day Cat. She is already designed, and we will begin working on her soon. We are planning to release the pattern by the middle of February, so everyone will have time to make her before St. Patrick's Day gets here. 

But I have not forgotten about Rita!! I do intend on completing the pattern as soon as I can. In fact, I have a whole line up of animal patterns I am working on for the Woodland collection. Some of the patterns I hope to soon release aside from Rita are: a red fox, a barn owl, and a bunny. 

For now though, you can expect to see Shamrock the St. Patrick's Day Cat up next!

Rita the Raccoon: Pattern Coming Soon!

I just completed Rita the Raccoon last night, and this morning I took her picture! Which means her pattern will soon be for sale in our shop. I am really excited about her, since she is the first pattern I've completed myself since Sammy the Sea Turtle. Rita is the first pattern in our Woodland Collection, and she will soon have a friend, but more on that in a minute. So here she is, Rita the Raccoon:

I would love to hear what you think! She took a little trial and error, but I think in the end she turned out pretty close to what I had in mind. 


What's next in the Woodland Collection?


The next friend for Rita will be a red fox! I've already worked on this pattern quite a bit and made a few samples, so I hope that the fox will go a lot quicker than Rita did. As soon as I start getting some progress made, I will share some preview pictures of the fox.


Other than that, we are hoping to soon release Freaked-Out Freddy for sale. It may even be up for sale today! So be looking for our next post on that!

Freaked-Out Freddy - Coming Soon!

We've almost got another monster finished! This time it's Freaked-Out Freddy! This is my mom's second monster pattern, in a series of 5. I think this guy is pretty funny, and we are both happy with how he turned out :D

We would love to hear any feedback you have on him or Scully! 

Freddy will be up for sale in our shop soon. Hopefully in just a few days.

No updates on Rita the Raccoon yet. She is taking a little longer than I had hoped, due to other projects I've been doing, but hopefully she will be worth the wait!

Scared Scully Is Now In Our Shop!

Yay! We are really excited to finally have a new pattern up for sale in our shop! Scully is the first new pattern in quite some time, and we hope that you all like him! The pattern is 18 pages (counting the cover and copyright info) and includes instructions on the backstitch, running stitch, French knot, and blanket stitch.

This also is our first pattern using our new logo and style. We are going to switch over Sammy the Sea Turtle to this look as well, and all future patterns will have this style. I think it looks a little more professional than what we previously had which looked like this...

So now, for my mom, it's on to the next monster pattern! And I'm still wrapping up Rita the Raccoon, Which I would love to have finished by next week.

The next Squishy-Cute in the woodland series after I finish up with Rita, will be a red fox! I haven't picked out a name yet though. Any ideas?

Scared Scully: Almost Finished!

Today we've been working on our final photo shoot for Scared Scully! Scully is the first monster my mom has designed for our new Monsters Collection of patterns. I think he turned out really cute. And quite scared of course! So what do you guys think?

We don't have the pattern/tutorial completely finished yet, but we are working to get that done soon. He will be the next pattern available in our shop on Etsy!


And I'm still working away on Rita the Raccoon, which I hope to also have finished shortly. I'm really excited to get her out too!


And as for the next monster in the series, my mom already is starting to design Freaked-Out Freddy! We will post updates on that as soon as we have some pictures to share.

Sneak Peak! Rita the Raccoon

I am getting close to having Rita the Raccoon finished! So I thought I would share a sneak peak at the progress on her. 

This, obviously, is her face. In this picture, her face is not quite completed, but it's the best picture I have so far to give you an idea of what she will look like. I'm really excited about getting her done, since it will be my first pattern in over a year! From here on out though, I hope to do one right after the other!


And Monsters?


My mom is almost finished with her first monster pattern as well! She is sewing and stuffing him up as I type! I don't have any photos of him uploaded to my computer yet, but he will probably be up for sale before my raccoon will. He is pretty funny and cute, and I think you all will like him!

First Post

So I've just started this blog for my store, Squishy-Cute Designs. I run this store with my mom, and right now, we really don't have much inventory, as you can see. I actually opened the store up quite awhile ago, but I just didn't have the time to make patterns. Then I finally managed to finish Sammy! Sammy the Sea Turtle was our first official Squishy-Cute pattern! And I think he's pretty cute :D What do you think?

We also have Frankie the Fish for sale. He was one of the first patterns I made, and while he has been well received, I didn't quite have a personal style in mind when I made him. But he will be left up in the shop for sale. 


The other pattern we have in our store right now is for a key chain of a tropical fish. This pattern has not sold. Haha, so needless to say, we probably will not be making anymore key chain patterns. I assume more people prefer stuffed animals. And actually, I'd rather make stuffed animals. But here he is, in case you're curious:

So What's Next?

Well, we are going to focus our shop on just stuffed animal patterns. And my next project is starting our woodland themed collection. First up? Rita the Raccoon! She is getting close to being complete, but more about that in my next post. And what is my mom working on? Well she has an idea for a cute little series of monsters! 

So hopefully this will be the beginning of a fun endeavor for us, and we'd love to hear what you think!
